Product Description
A limited supply set, once it's gone it's gone forever. This is a terrific deal on a starter Thomas the Tank Engine Thomas wooden railway figure 8 set. The Riding the Rails wooden train set is promotionally priced as a great way to get started with the world of Thomas wooden railway. This train set includes 25 pieces and has an exclusive stone bridge and box car, plus of course a Thomas engine. The set is similar to the conductor's figure 8 set but at a much better price while supplies last. Compatible with all BRIO compatible railway systems including Thomas, BRIO and others.

5 out of 5 stars She's So Into Thomas   August 16, 2009

My 2 year old daughter is so into Thomas & Friends right now. We bought this track & the circle track with the bridge & water tower (and we connected them). We play with this thing all day. She loves to connect all the engines & freight cars and send them snaking around the track. I rated the track as educational because she has learned which cars are engines, baggage, freight etc. She loves to line them up and count them. It's also great for memory. She knows the names of all the different engines.

My sister got this for my 3 year old for Christmas (2009) and while he's not really into it, it is a great toy. My son will only play with it when I play with him, but he's like this with a lot except action figures. I'm still planning on adding on to it for years to come and I'm hoping he will be more interested in time. He loves to play with the Thomas set & train table they have set up at Toys R Us (especially when other children are playing, too) and this is why we got this.

We do have lots of fun when we play with it together, though, and we have figured out about 3 ways to set up the tracks. I, for one, love it! :-p So while it wasn't a huge hit for my 3-year-old, it might be for your child!

He maybe would like it a bit more if he watched Thomas, but we never catch it.

It's very well made and durable wood. So much better than the other immitation train that use the compressed cardboard/wood with all the chemical-ly glues. When you compare quality it's clear why Thomas is priced the way it is.

This was a favorite Christmas toy for our Great Grandson who was 19 months old. He loves connecting the magnetic engines and cars and plays with the set for hours at a time.

4 out of 5 stars Compatible with Trackmaster and Lego Duplo   April 17, 2010

I bought this set and 5-In-1 Track Layout Pack for my son's 3 year old birthday.
To be honest I like take along Thomas more than wooden railway.
Because take along series are more detailed than wooden railway pieces and cost less.
I was going to buy take along series because he already owns one take along train.
But I found out that learning curve no longer makes take along series so if I want to add more later then wooden railway is better I thought.
Also this starter set was only $18.19 [...] so I thought I should give a shot.

I still like take along series more but one thing that wooden railway was better is compatible with Trackmaster and Lego Duplo Thomas series.
He got wooden railway sets, a take along train, Trackmaster sets and Lego Duplo Thomas sets. (Maybe all kinds of Thomas toys.)
I was amazed that wooden railway, Trackmaster and Lego Duplo are all compatible.
You can play Trackmaster trains on wooden tracks, you can play wooden trains on Lego tracks and so as Lego Thomas on Trackmaster tracks.
My son likes playing with Trackmaster trains on wooden tracks.
Trackmaster trains don't go over or under the bridge because of their sizes but as long as the tracks are flat they work.

One thing I am not happy with this set is about a bridge.
It is made up of 3 pieces but I don't understand why they made like that.
The top part of the bridge is not stable so it easily falls off.
And this part is not compatible with any other wooden tracks.
There is no point to make up of 3 pieces except packing problem. (Maybe you can save some space when you pack.)
But it was on sale and I think I got more than I paid.
So I am very happy with this product.

3 out of 5 stars A little disappointed   December 29, 2009

High quality durable wood and solidly built but track doesn't fit together in places which causes the cars to derail. Not as large as it looks in the picture. An "ok" purchase.
